    Minister Zappone confirms Childcare Programme Support Payments worth over €19m 

    The Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Dr. Katherine Zappone T.D., today announced details of the forthcoming Programme Support Payment (PSP), due to be made available to all early learning and care providers this summer.  Over €19m will be made available to early learning and care services under the measure from June 2019.

    The payment will be calculated as equal to 7 days’ (1.4 weeks’) registrations for ECCE at Standard Capitation, and 14 days’ (2.8 weeks’) registrations for CCS(P) and TEC.

    The application window for PSP will open for six weeks from Monday 13 May to Friday 21 June 2019 and the application form can be accessed through the Programmes Implementation Platform (PIP).
    Payments will issue the following week.

    National Childcare Scheme launch

    The Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Dr Katherine Zappone, has welcomed the news of the overwhelmingly positive response to the new National Childcare Scheme, the pathway to quality, affordable, accessible Early Learning and Care and School-Age Childcare.

    A huge year for childcare in Ireland, a nationwide Communications Campaign is now underway to raise awareness and help both parents and providers to prepare for the National Childcare Scheme’s opening in October. The Scheme’s website, www.ncs.gov.ie  went live on Monday 11th of March, and with over 23,000 hits so far is already proving hugely popular.

    For any services who wish to apply, we encourage applications to be submitted as soon as possible in order to avoid any technical issues.

    Please note Pobal lines are always very busy approaching the Deadline day. Any issues or queries raised with the Online Support team on Friday 22nd March 2019 may not be resolved before the 3pm application submission deadline and may impact on you being able to complete/submit your application in time for the deadline.

    WCCC Training

    Information sessions on National Childcare Scheme

    Booking for the National Childcare Scheme information sessions are now available on Eventbrite. They start next week on Monday 25th March and run until May 13th. We are hosting sessions in different areas of the county and have put on morning, afternoon and evening sessions in order to try and facilitate everyone. Hopefully everyone who wishes to attend will be able to find a venue and time to suit.

    These sessions are for all providers, even if you are an ECCE only provider, it will benefit you to hear about the new scheme and the new online platform.

    OTHER TRAINING

    LINC Training Programme 2019/2020

    4th April 2019 – Closing date for applications 

    On Tuesday 5th March, Minister Zappone announced up to 1,150 free places on the Leadership for Inclusion in the Early Years (LINC) Higher Education Programme.

    Training will be held in Bray commencing September 2019. 

    This is the last year of the LINC programme.  More information on the programme can be found on www.lincprogramme.ie.

    Forest School Level 3 Certificate training

    Forest School are offering training to Wicklow County Childcare Committee Service Providers at a subsidised rate thanks to funding received from Wicklow County Council and the Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership fund.

    Two Irish trainers, Ciara Hinksman of Earth Force Education and Lucy Bell of Growing Wild, are delivering this course in association with Circle of Life Training. Both Lucy and Ciara are Forest School practitioners working with children and adults throughout Ireland since 2013 and have been outdoor educators for over ten years. They are part of the Circle of Life Training team delivering OCN Level 3 Certificate Forest School Leader course in Co. Wicklow.

    PARENTS WORKSHOP

    Transitions Workshops through the National Parents Council

    Date: 9th April

    Venue: Arklow Bay Hotel

    The National Parents Council will be running sessions for parents around the country to support them to support their children make the transition from pre-school to primary school.  These sessions will also support parents of children who may have special educational needs.
