Wicklow County Childcare Committee are hosting information sessions on the Early Learning & Care and School Aged Childcare Capital Grants Programme 2019 on the following dates;

We will be presenting the eligibility criteria for each of the strands A-C, supports and resources available and an opportunity for questions and answers.
Please note, applicants that are applying for a new DCYA reference number in order to make an a Capital grant application will need to complete and return the new DCYA reference number application form and the PIP mandate form no later than 13th March. If Childcare/SAC providers are changing address or new build, a new DCYA reference number is required.
The Community Childcare Subvention Scheme (CCS) will be merged with the Community Childcare Subvention Plus (CCSP) scheme once the current programme year comes to an end in August 2019.
Funding for parents remains unaffected by move.
All of the other targeted childcare schemes will continue for the full 2019/20 programme year.

Institute of Technology Carlow in partnership with Wicklow County Childcare Committee will be offering a Level 7 Bachelor of Arts in Applied Early Childhood Education and Care starting in Wicklow in September 2019
This Bachelor of Arts in Applied Early Childhood Education and Care programme which is part funded by MBE Skillnet and is designed for those who hold a FULL QQI Level 6 major award in childcare and who are working full-time in the sector with at least 3 years’ full time experience. This is possibly the last year we will be offering the one year add on Level 7 Bachelor of Arts in Applied Early Childhood Education and Care as from September 2020 IT Carlow have advised that all Level 7 Early Years programmes in the country are likely moving to 3 years degree programmes and Level 8 programmes to 4 years degree programmes in line with the Department’s strategy for the Early Childhood workforce development plan. At this point the information is that from September 2020 new changes to all existing programmes will come into effect. Therefore, this is likely to be the last cohort for the one year Level 7 Bachelor of Arts in Applied Early Childhood Education and Care.
As and from February 18th 2019 (commencement date) all school age services are required to register with Tusla.
Points to remember – If you are already registered with Tusla as a pre-school service, you will be allowed six months from the commencement date of the Regulations in order to apply for registration. This means that you must apply to register by 18 August 2019. If you are not already registered with Tusla as a pre-school service, you will be allowed three months from the commencement date of the Regulations in order to apply for registration. This means that you must apply to register by 18 May 2019.
Please note: Anyone who intends to operate a school age service in the future must register before the service opens. You must apply for registration at least three months before you propose to begin operating, to allow Tusla time to consider your application. The National Training Programme provides practitioners with an opportunity to explore the concepts of Diversity and Equality within the preschool context and will support participants in the development of an inclusive early years environment for all children.

This workshop will look at practical approaches to communicating with parents regarding children’s development and behaviours. This workshop will also address ways in which to present Aim supports to parents in order to create an understanding as to how to best support their child through the preschool years.
Following the workshop, in advance of the opening of applications for the LINC course this March, a tutor from the Leadership for INClusion in the Early Years programme will be hosting an information session.
LINC is a free (fully funded) higher education blended-learning programme designed for early years teachers, to promote the inclusion of children with additional needs. After completing the programme, graduates will carry out the role of Inclusion Coordinator and will also meet the educational requirement for room leader status. Once a qualified graduate is working within an early years setting as the INclusion COordinator, the setting will be entitled to an extra capitation payment of €2 per ECCE/CCS/TEC qualified child.
