    DEADLINES/IMPORTANT DATES:

    13 October, 2017 – Inclusion Coordinator (LINC)

    Applications for the additional capitation opened today. See below for details.

    16 October, 2017 – Learner fund Level 7/8/9 bursary applications open

    Application forms will be available from this date on our website.

    20 October, 2017 – Capital financial returns

    The financial returns for Early Years Capital strands 1,2 & 3 and School-Aged Childcare A, B & C will be available on PIP for completion.

    7 November, 2017 – Learner fund bursary application deadline

    Applications for level 7/8/9 bursary close at 5 p.m. on this date.

    30 November, 2017 – Capital financial returns submission deadline

    All financial returns for the Early years capital and school-aged childcare capital must be submitted by this date.

    AIM Level 1 Inclusion Coordinator

    If you or someone you employ is a graduate of the LINC programme, you are entitled to additional ECCE capitation. You can complete an application form on PIP. To apply you will need the unique graduate ID number from Mary Immaculate college and a signed declaration and consent form.

    Budget 2018

    Here is a summary of the childcare budget announcements:

    • From September 2018 all children aged 2 years and 8 months will be able to start on the ECCE scheme. January 2018 and April 2018 will be the last split entry points. This change means that all eligible children will have access to 76 weeks of ECCE.
    • The capitation rates will go up by 7% so from September 2018 the rates will be:
    • Standard rate will go from €64.50 up to €69 per child
    • Higher capitation rate will go from €75 to €80.25

    Level 7/8/9 Learner fund bursary

    Applications for this bursary will open on Monday, 16 October. If you wish to apply, please complete the application form on our website.  Applications must be accompanied by your certificate.

    Children First Act 2015

    Minister Katherine Zappone T.D., Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, recently announced that following almost two years of preparations all remaining provisions of the Children First Act 2015 will be commenced on 11th December 2017.

    These include the provisions in relation to mandatory reporting of child abuse and in relation to placing a legal obligation on organisations providing services to children to prepare and publish a Child Safeguarding Statement.  The revised Guidance includes reference to the provisions of the Children First Act and is available on the website of the Department of Children and Youth Affairs at www.dcya.gov.ie.

    WCCC will roll out new training in 2018 to include the new provisions.

     

    WCCC TRAINING & EVENTS:

    Equality, Diversity and Inclusion training

    WCCC are still rolling out the EDI training however only have limited places still available in 2017, so we advise you to book asap to secure a place.  For details of the dates and venues please see the training section of our website.  Please remember that this is a requirement of your ECCE contract.

    Appendix 2 states:

    AIM Level 1 – The Registered Provider will engage with the CCC and participate in the Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Charter and Guidelines training. On completion of the training, the Registered Provider must sign up to a National Inclusion Charter and create their own Early Childhood Care and Education National Inclusion Policy.

    Childcare Professionals Development Day – 25th November, Glenview Hotel

    Building Relationships to foster positive behaviour – your role as an Early Years Professional.  The day will look at various strategies to promote/support/facilitate relationships and positive behaviours in early years settings.  This annual event is always hugely attended by Childcare Professionals and is also a great opportunity to network.  A three course lunch is included in the fee.
