New Data Protection Regulations workshop (postponed till further notice)

This workshop prepares Early Years Services for the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which comes into force in May 2018.

Early Years Services handle a wide variety of personal and private data that falls under the remit of data protection. Services will have increased responsibilities under the forthcoming General Data Protection Regulation [GDPR] which come into force in May 2018. The GDPR gives the data protection authorities greater powers in tackling non-compliance which can include fines of up to €20,000,000 or 4% of turnover, whichever is the greater.

Many of the requirements of the GDPR are the same as those set out under the Data Protection Acts, 1988 and 2003. There are, however, some new elements and enhanced requirements which require consideration. It is essential that Early Years Services ensure that they met the new compliance requirements.
