Early Years Practitioner – Ballyconnell (5 miles from Tullow Town)

The Schoolhouse Preschool is a Sessional Service Preschool located beside Ballyconnell National School (5 miles from Tullow Town). We are seeking to recruit a reliable and caring Early Years Practitioner to cover the ECCE scheme Monday – Friday. Hours 9/9:30am – 12:30/1pm (term-time).

Job Purpose:

To act as a positive role model and be responsible for the delivery and implementation of a high-quality play-based curriculum under the guidance of the national quality frameworks Aistear and Síolta both indoors and outdoors. To guide, observe, stimulate and supervise children in a safe and caring environment.

Person Specification:

  • A minimum of FETAC Level 5 in Early Years Education is essential
  • Experience working within an Early Years setting is desirable
  • Child Protection and First Aid certification are required for this post
  • Garda Vetting will be required as part of the recruitment process
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development
  • Reliable and committed to Early Years Education
  • The ability to work in collaboration with other staff
  • Highly motivated to work on own initiative

Core Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To conduct observation and learning stories for all children
  • Plan curriculum/activities, to develop and implement a play-based curriculum that encourages independence and fosters the growth of self-esteem within all children in line with the Siolta & Aistéar the National Framework for Quality and Curriculum
  • To organise materials, resources and the environment to ensure that they reflect the children’s emerging interests and abilities
  • To develop and support parental involvement strategies that enhance children’s learning experiences
  • To ensure that the welfare of children is paramount in accordance with Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children
  • Implement and review activities appropriate to the groups needs in order to support children’s physical, language, emotional, social, intellectual and cognitive development
  • Carry out duties in line with Policies and Procedures developed by the Childcare Service and in line with the Preschool Regulations
  • Adopt a professional outlook at all times to childcare issues and present a positive approach to development in respect of: new legislation, measures taken to further protect children, and working in partnership with parents/guardians

Requirements:
