• Early Years Inspectorate Update 2016 Regulations

    Tusla are now commencing the registration of currently notified services. Registration on this occasion will be on an administrative basis by way of statutory declaration.  Please note this process only applies to providers who are currently notified and operational and is only available until June 15th next.  If you delay your registration until after this date or if you intend on opening a new service after this date you will be required to apply under the stipulations of the 2016 Early Years Services Regulations which were published 5 May 2016. The processes for such applications will be made available in due course.

    To assist providers understanding of the new revised regulations Tusla are undertaking briefing on the new regulations throughout the country the last week of May and the 1st week in June.  There will be 13 sessions in 7 different venues around the country.  Bookings for the briefing settings will be available from Monday 9th May with details available the Tusla website.

    Tusla intend covering the following areas at planned briefing sessions:

    • The findings of the survey which was sent to all Service Provider’s,
    • Identify the new changes within the 2016 Regulations
    • The process for re-registration for existing service provider’s.
    • The registration process for new services
    • An overview of the Quality and Regulatory Framework which Tusla are currently developing and which identifies national and international research and best practice in the provision of early years services congruent with the requirements as stipulated in the 2016 Regulations.  This framework will not be introduced at this time as further development and consultation is required.
    • The briefing sessions will elaborate on the necessary changes to inspections over the second half of 2016 & into 2017 however Tusla are mindful that the changes will be introduced on a phased basis.

    Tusla will be developing a question & answer document on all the queries & question received and will include all generated from the briefing sessions.
