• Compliance with National Standards update for Providers

Posted on February 5, 2014 by in News Updates

In December WCCC hosted a series of information evenings to update Early Years Services of the changes to the inspection process and the proposed introduction of a registration process and the accompanying National Standards. On 1st January 2014, the Child and Family Agency Bill was enacted, which contains the relevant legislation for these changes in the sector.

We are still awaiting details on many items, at the time of writing:

    •  The National Standards have not been released, although we understand that they have been signed off ready for publication.
    • We understand that the formal process of moving services over to registration is set to begin over the coming fortnight; it was delayed due to an IT issue. No confirmation has come yet on the cost of registration.
    • Interviews took place in January for the 2 new Early Years Inspectors for the South Dublin/East Wicklow area, although no information has been forthcoming on who will fill these roles or when they will begin in post.

WCCC is striving to find out all the relevant information and as soon as we receive confirmation of the above, we will circulate it immediately to providers. We had planned to host Information Briefings on the new National Standards on 11th February and 4th March but unfortunately we have decided to postpone these sessions until more detail is confirmed. As soon as the National Standards are released, we will re-schedule these free sessions throughout the county.
