Following discussions with its members throughout the country, the ACP is organising a rally at 1-3pm on Tuesday 17th February 2015, outside Dáil Éireann.
The purpose of this rally is to highlight the importance of early childhood education and care and the vital role played by childhood professionals in supporting the children and families at this foundation stage of development.
DCYA have clarified that in the event that the number of contracted days are made up due to any unforeseen closures, this is acceptable. Therefore, childcare providers wishing to close their service on 17th February should amend their calendar with their local Childcare Committee/Pobal accordingly.
All ECCE services are contractually obliged to provide 183 days of ECCE provision per academic year. In the event of a childcare service having to close on an approved ECCE day, notification of the closure must be given to WCCC and this time must be amended on the services ECCE calendar for approval.
Please see below steps for amending your ECCE calendar;
– Childcare service must amend their WCCC Approved calendar and return it to WCCC’s office by post or email (firstname.lastname@example.org) for the attention of the Development team.
– WCCC will approve the amended ECCE calendar and send a copy of the newly approved calendar to Pobal and the childcare service.
