Our Staff

The staff provide advice and assistance to existing and potential Childcare providers, to Childminders and those thinking of Childminding, and to parents, on all childcare issues for children between the ages of 0 and 14.

WCCC’s staff are:

County Childcare Manager: Assumpta O’Neill

Assumpta O’Neill, joined WCCC in April 2003 as a Development Officer for South and West Wicklow and became the County Childcare Manager (Acting) in March 2017.  Assumpta is a qualified trainer and facilitator.  She delivers training to providers and parent and toddler groups throughout the county on many subjects such as Siolta, Aistear, Policies and Procedures, Child Protection and Equality and Diversity.  She previously worked with UCD as a tutor and also as a Rural Development Officer with Carlow Leader.  She has vast experience in community and rural development, project management, facilitation and training delivery. She has a B.Sc. in Rural Development from UCD as well as Mediation and Conflict Resolution training (also UCD) and FETAC qualification in Equality and Diversity. Assumpta recently completed postgraduate studies in early childhood care and education through IT Carlow.

Finance Officer : Jane McNultyCapture

Jane McNulty is responsible for all aspects of financial management, compliance and monitoring within the Wicklow County Childcare Committee. Jane has worked extensively throughout the UK and most recently at the Wicklow Montessori School, during which time she  attained Fetac Level 5 in Childcare and worked on the delivery of ECCE.

 Development Officer (East Wicklow): Adrienne Slater

Adrienne became the Development Officer for East Wicklow in March 2017, having worked with WCCC on a number of projects including analysing ECCE capacity and mentoring community childcare services in Bray as part of the SPECS project. Adrienne brings more than a decade experience as a childcare practitioner in various settings and has completed a BA in Early Childhood Care and Education and an MA in Child and Family Studies through IT Carlow.

Development Officer (North Wicklow): Marie Cuddihy

Marie Cuddihy has worked with the Childcare Committee since January 2007.  Marie has a Social Science degree from UCD and is currently completing a Masters in Early Childhood Studies at Queen’s University, Belfast.  She worked with the Department of Social and Family Affairs both as an interface with the public and as an IT project manager for over ten years. Child Protection is an area of particular interest to Marie and she has 5 years experience delivering Child Protection training in conjunction with the HSE and the Northern Ireland Volunteer Development Authority. Marie supports providers in North Wicklow on all issues relating to Childcare.  Marie is qualified as an Accounting Technician, a Facilitator and an Early Years Trainer delivering Quality workshops, Child Protection training, Critical Incident Planning and Policies and Procedures workshops.  Other areas of interest include the continuing professional development of the Early Years Sector and developing Literacy and Numeracy strategies locally.

Development Officer (South and West Wicklow): Lorraine McConnell

Lorraine McConnell joined the WCCC Team as the Development Officer for South and West Wicklow in May 2017.  As an owner of both full day care and sessional facilities for the past twenty-two years she has vast experience and understanding in the areas of day to day operations, finance, HR, marketing and partnerships with families. She holds a diploma in the Montessori Method of Education from St. Nicholas College, a BA in Early Childhood Education and Care through IT Carlow and a Masters in Leadership and Management in Education from Trinity College Dublin. Lorraine is also a qualified trainer and currently tutors and lectures in Early Childhood Studies for Further Education and Third Level Colleges.

Training & Information Officer: Judy van den Belt

Judy van den Belt joined as part-time administrator in January 2007.  Her role involves organizing training  courses run by the WCCC, updating WCCC’s website and social media platforms, providing information about our services as well as day to day administration duties. Judy has worked in multinational companies Microsoft and AT&T and numerous international shipping agencies.  Her background is in Export/Imports, Export Compliance, Sales, Office Administration and Customer Service.
